The Georgia Tech chapter of the American Medical Student Association is delighted to host our Annual Pre-Health Conference on February 26th, 2022 at Klaus Atrium in the Klaus Advanced Computing Building on Georgia Tech's campus.
Every year, representatives from medical schools all over the United States attend to network with the Georgia Tech Pre-Health community. In addition to networking with these guests during our "Health Fair," students are invited to spend the day participating in various workshops and listening to panel discussions focused on Innovation in Healthcare, featuring our keynote speaker, Dr. Kevin Maher. Keynote Speaker
Dr. Kevin Maher, GT - Pediatric Technology Center Director, CHOA Director of Cardiac ICU, Professor of Pediatrics at Emory School of Medicine
Kevin Maher, MD, is a professor of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine and the director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He attended medical school at University of Maryland, and then completed his residency and chief residency in Pediatrics at the University of Maryland. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Michigan, and then completed additional Cardiac ICU training at DuPont Children’s Hospital.
In 2004, Dr. Maher joined the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University. He currently serves on the Cardiac Executive Leadership Committee to help direct the current and future activities of the Children’s Heart Center.
Dr. Maher’s research interests are in investigating heart failure in children, pediatric medical device development and Big Data and Analytics. He also conducts research regarding the application of technology to pediatric research and innovation. He has published more than 75 research articles, and has presented his research worldwide. Dr. Maher also works on several research collaborations between CHOA and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and serves as the medical director of the Pediatric Technology Center at Georgia Tech, where he is an adjunct professor of Biomedical Engineering.
