Advocacy
AMSA's Advocacy Committee is in charge of community outreach and networking to ensure that our members have well rounded activities and experiences in preparation for medical school applications. We will continually update this page as new and existing events are planned!
Networking Night
Advocacy's largest fall semester event is our annual Networking Night! This event hosts a variety of professionals, including professors, researchers, and healthcare workers for students to interact and build relationships with. Use this opportunity to learn about your future endeavors and maybe an internship or research or shadowing position!
Spring MEDTalks
MEDTalks is a series of talks presented by physicians and influential figures from our community. It is a great opportunity for students to get to learn topics around healthcare for underrepresented groups and public health. Previous year’s topics include race norming in medicine, autism disparities, reproductive justice, transgender healthcare, and healthcare equity.
Volunteering & Drives
Throughout the year, Advocacy plans many volunteering opportunities and drives to help AMSA members be more involved in the larger Atlanta community and gain volunteering hours. Some past volunteering opportunities include Medshare, the Atlanta Food Bank, and many more!
Other Events
Advocacy also sponsors a variety of fun events throughout the year to keep AMSA members active within the organization. Past events have included trivia night, yoga, and final exam study rooms!

Mentorship
AMSA's Mentorship Committee strives to connect underclassmen students with upperclassmen. Students will get a chance to gain valuable advice from their mentors regarding research, clinical work, etc. This is a great chance for you to develop everlasting relationships with your AMSA peers! Here are some upcoming events:
Meet the Mentors
During the beginning of the school year, we will send out a survey that will help us get to know you. Mentors will be connected to mentees based on common interests.
Social events
We hope to host several social events throughout the school year that will give mentors and mentees a chance to connect with one another. During these events, we plan to offer fun incentives to our mentors and mentees!
Prep for Applying
Many of our mentors may be familiar with the process of applying to medical school. Our goal is to host several workshops related to the personal statement, interview, and other aspects of the application process for medical school.

Fundraising
AMSA's Fundraising Committee works together in order to fundraise and provide the foundation for the plethora of events that AMSA holds each year. Members will have the chance to apply and join this committee, where they can expect to brainstorm potential sponsors, help organize sponsorship nights/tabling fundraisers, and contribute to funding applications from organizations such as SGA. We also hope to go back to acquiring funding for main in-person events such as the fall basketball tournament and AMSA's Spring Health Fair and Conference.
Membership Engagement
AMSA's Membership Engagement Committee works to support and engage the members of AMSA through various social activities and events that allow members to interact with one another and create a community. We will update this page as we plan more events for this semester. Here are some of the events we are planning to have:
Self-Care/Relaxation Events
The mental health and well-being of all AMSA members are very important! We hope to hold various stress management workshops and self-care events that allow members to relax amid the stress of school. More information on this soon!

Conference
Every year, Georgia Tech Amsa hosts a pre-health conference. We invite representatives from medical schools all over the United States to give pre-health students the chance to network. Additionally, we hold workshops and feature a keynote speaker, as well as other panel speakers to engage attendees. Our conference provides an amazing chance to network with organizations as well as other pre-health students. Check out our Conference page for more details.
